You have to know this answer…what’s the FIRST step?
Goal setting, goal setting, goal setting…
I get hundreds of emails each week from people asking about goal setting…
They want to know:
- How to set realistic goals
- Why they aren’t reaching their goals
- How they know if their goal is realistic
- Should they split up their goals into different categories
- If they can focus on more than one goal at a time or multiple goals
etc.
Here’s the deal…
I firmly believe in the saying “if you can conceive it you can achieve it” BUT this is where most people struggle…
Every huge vision
Every momentous goal
Every ultimate success
STARTS WITH THE FIRST STEP!
Decide what your ultimate vision is…
I guarantee it is full and complete and includes all the elements of life:
- Money
- Career
- Creativity
- Relationships
- Spirituality
- Fun
and more…
In all my coaching and teaching I tell you to know what that full vision is and see it, taste it, touch it and feel it in as much detail as possible…
Once you do this, then I need you to break that down into bite size bench marks or goals…
If you want to make a million dollars and work 4 hours a week and travel the world with the love of your life but right now you make $30,000/year work, 40 hours a week, can’t take time off for vacation and are single then your ultimate vision is probably somewhat intimidating.
I’m here to tell you it’s possible BUT you have to break it down…
How do you eat an elephant?
1 bite at a time!
Do it now…write down the bench marks…make sure you break them down enough that the first bench marks feels achievable.
Great…that first bench mark is your first goal.
Now I need you to decide 1 thing and 1 thing only…
What’s the FIRST step?
A step isn’t something that involves many steps…
A step is a step…just one…
What’s the first step?
Write it down…
If this step requires a list of steps to achieve it then you haven’t broken it down enough…
The first step is the FIRST STEP and that’s it.
Once you decide what the first step is you MUST schedule it and then DO IT!
Here’s the trick to achieving your ultimate vision faster than you thought possible…
One step at a time…
Once you finish 1 step, identify the next step, identify it and DO IT and so on until you reach your first Bench Mark or Goal.
As soon as you reach your first bench mark or goal it’s time to figure out the first step on the journey to the next bench mark or goal and so on.
Every day ask yourself, “What’s my next step?”
Do this exercise and leave me a comment telling me your first step…accountability is a huge key to success!
Go Big!
Kristen

hey great news…..Hello Magazine are going to interview me for my October exhibition!! So all I have said to you in the past is coming through. This is it for me and by the end of the year all the manifestations will be here. It’s taken since 2003 but every step has brought it’s own rewards and highlighted the journey so it’s been a great ride. like you say it’s just one step at a time and having the complete belief that the ultimate dream will be achieved! I have sold on average 3 paintings a week through the galleries in the UK, this last year and the buzz is out about the work I do. It’s very, very exciting!!
I hope everyone gets this way of thinking and we all achieve our dreams!! with the ‘lack’ all gone we’re left with abundance and joy and that will be a wonderful place for us all to be
big bubbly wishes

Great post. But here’s the truth for whoever wants the know the truth. If you don’t hit your goals, it is because you don’t BELIEVE you can hit them. And if you truly believe you can, you don’t stay focused long enough to reach that goal. LOA is LOA, and unfortunately we have been programmed to believe that reaching a life changing goal is not easy, so therefore it is not. It doesn’t take much to get off track because we are surrounded by distractions.

I want more REO listings, and I know I must therefore do more BPOs (broker price opinions). To do that, I must have them assigned to me. I’ve been doing them in Bishop, CA, but need to do them here. I was given a list of the Asset Managers to contact, but never got around to doing the contacting, always letting some other pressing issue take up my time. Today, I decided to begin contacting them and, lo and behold, a young aspiring agent sent me an e-mail that she needs work. So, the first step was to respond to her e-mail and ask her to call me in the morning. I need the help, and maybe this was the Universe’s way of sending that help to me and to her.

The first step> It’s that first nibble and where to bite that halts me ever so briefly in my tracks, until out of desperation I begin chewing just to get started. I am learning how to become the elephant so that I transform the obstacle into a stepping stone, and go from negative to positive!

Hi Kristen, do you think there’s something in what Will says? I like the idea of becoming the elephant.

This has come at just the right time for me.Belief is my big problem but I won’t let that hold me back any longer. I am working through the 5 steps and will come out the other side a better, more productive person. Thanks.

This year I wanted to get a drivers licence and I did after several attempts. Thank you for making it possible to achieve my biggest dreams – one step at a time. You know I had such big dreams, that I thought it was impossible to achieve. I know I’m a work in progress and the progress is good so far. I thought I was a complete failure due to the economic crash I experienced last, loosing a job and savings.
You have made it possible, thanx for your encouragement – it is changing lives! I hope I’ll make it easy for u to continue doing this great work you are doing.

Great advice! I started selling my art online on various products month ago. I have been doing alot of different things but it has not been easy making sells. However, I’m very determined to reach my goal. My next step will be to use YouTube to post separate videos with my art in them. Thanks Kristen(LOA)! ^_^
I also liked what you said Edward Litors!

Hi Kristen,
Great post as always. One question that’s been puzzling me and cannot seem to get the answer that I feel is THE answer.
When you set a short term goal and visualise it, do you visualise that goal for 30 days and follow through with inspired action, or do you continue to visualise (and take inspired action) until you manifest the goal?
Also, how would you visualise your dream home as a goal, especially that it’s a long term goal and one that cannot be broken into bite size chunks?
Many thanks.
Hani
