The Great Misconception Behind
the Law of Attraction
By Kristen Howe
When ‘The Secret’ hit the public eye and turned the spotlight on the Law of Attraction, people started jumping on the LOA bandwagon to attract money, success, love…you name it.
BUT if you are like most of these people then chances are good you tried to harness the power of the law of attraction but have been left with nothing to show for it (and may be worse off than when you started.)
I know where you are, I was in the same boat until I found out the hidden truth behind making the Law of Attraction work.
There is one great misconception about the Law of Attraction and, if you are almost certain that the law of attraction doesn’t work for you, have no fear, removing this misconception may be the first step to turning things around for you as it was for me.
What is this great misconception? The primary reason the Law of Attraction is probably NOT working for you, and that reason is this…
For the law of attraction to work, you HAVE to take inspired action.
For the law of attraction to work, you HAVE to take inspired action.
Yup…sorry to say, you can’t just sit around visualizing and have the life you desire ring your doorbell. (I’m not going to lie; years ago I believed this misconception and am I glad I learned the truth.)
Visualizing is powerful and SO IMPORTANT…feeling it and seeing it and tasting it is the beginning, the foundation, but it is not the whole picture.
Look at it this way, visualization is the thing that leads you to the right and inspired action that will make the law of attraction work for you and attract the life of your dreams.
For the Law of Attraction to work and bring you everything you want, you have to do more than just sit around your house and think about it. As I said, for the Law of Attraction to work, you have to take Inspired Action. But the good news is, Inspired Action (unlike Forced Action) can be fun and exciting and even feel effortless.
First IT IS ESSENTIAL that you learn how to know the difference between Inspired Action and Forced Action – so let’s get into this…
Before I get into Inspired Action, I have to remind you that the Law of Attraction is ALWAYS working; it’s just a matter of if it is working for you or against you. What we spend the majority of our time focusing on is we attract. If you spend most of your time thinking, feeling and acting broke…the Law of Attraction will deliver more situations to prove you are broke.
And if you spend the majority of your time thinking, feeling and acting rich, then guess what the Law of Attraction will deliver to you?
You guessed it…opportunity for more riches!
Notice I said OPPORTUNITY for more riches…the reason I said OPPORTUNITY is because the Law of Attraction Key is INSPIRED ACTION.
Without Inspired Action you may be constantly surrounded by the opportunity for the life you desire…but if 8 million doors open up and you just sit there and don’t actually walk through one of those doors then your life still won’t change.
At this point in the discussion, the question always arises of how to know the difference between Forced Action and Inspired Action and trust me there is a HUGE difference.
Forced action can keep you busy and running in circles every day for the rest of your life while inspired action doesn’t eat up all of your time and definitively moves you toward your goals.
Knowing the difference between forced action and inspired action will eventually become a ‘Gut Instinct’ for you…and once you tap into your intuition the Law of Attraction will work for you in ways you never imagined.
BUT chances are good that right now you are like most people and much, if not most, of the action you take is probably inspired by fear or boredom.
There is 1 question you can ask yourself to discover if your instinct is guiding you out of Fear or Inspiration.
Before you take ANY action, ask this question:
“Will doing this right now move me toward my goal of _________ or away from my goal of _________?
NOTE: IT’S IMPORTANT to name the goal SPECIFICALLY, if you are general and don’t get specific this won’t be as effective.
If your honest answer is that it will move you toward your goal…
GREAT, GO FOR IT, for you are about to tap into the Law of Attraction Key of Inspired Action!
BUT, if it will move you away from your goal then ask yourself this follow up question:
‘What small action can I take RIGHT NOW to move me toward my goal of _______.”
When an answer pops into your head, ask yourself the first question again just to make sure you aren’t fooling yourself.
GO TAKE INSPIRED ACTION!
Remember, the Key to the Law of Attraction is Inspired Action. And once you tap into the power of Inspired Action you will stop taking action out of fear and in doing so will start immediately start attracting the life you desire.
|Quick Tip||Look Who’s Talking…|
|If you are still struggling with the difference between Inspired Action and Forced Action, try this very powerful question: Is taking this action motivated by fear or excitement?
When you take action that is motivated by fear, you are trying to force something to be different. THAT is the sign that you are about to take Forced Action. Forced Action is tricky, because it can seem to work for a short time, but it is normally a band aid and gives way to more panic and fear motivated action.
Inspired Action, on the other hand, builds momentum and confidence. Pay attention to your motivation behind the action and you will be on your way to mastering the Law of Attraction!
