Harmony Opens to Door to Abundance

By Kristen Howe

When you look up the word Harmony, there are certain words and phrases in the definition that I want to point out. Things like…

  • A pleasing or congruent arrangement of parts.
  • Correspondence and accord.
  • Internal calm: tranquility.

With this in mind, I want to talk about how to live in harmony, with yourself, with others, with the Universe. When you do, the door to abundance and bliss will fly open.

Being in harmony means you flow with life, you flow with others, you flow with what is going on around you. In other words, you let go of resistance.

But, and this is the BIG thing, when you are in harmony, even though you release resistance, you still remain unique. Let’s use singing a song in harmony as an example of what I mean…

When you sing in harmony with someone else, your musical line compliments theirs, every once in a while you both may land on the same note, BUT you are singing unique and individual musical lines.

In fact, harmony relies upon each person holding their unique line.

I bring this up, because resistance often forms when we think that have to completely “change our tune” (so to speak) in order to be in a state of harmony. People resist the concept of harmony when they don’t understand that to harmonize they don’t have to alter themselves and become the other person’s viewpoint, opinion or way of life.

To be in harmony, you don’t have to be on the same exact note in fact, you can’t be on the same exact note and be in harmony at the same time. We don’t need to become each other and forget ourselves to be in harmony. Harmony relies on us being who we are. Maintaining our unique perspective and flow, it doesn’t ask us to abandon ourselves, it simply asks for us to release resistance where we might normally resist. It asks us to find a way to sing our song in a way that flows with the music of life that is around us.

This probably makes sense when you think of relationships right? You can see how if you aren’t scared that you have to completely become someone else and adopt their way of viewing and doing things – that it is easier to find a way to be in harmony with them.

But, how does harmony have anything to do with abundance?

I’ll tell you…

I’m going to say something bold…

If you aren’t experiencing abundance in your life, then you aren’t in harmony with abundance.

I can hear you now…

“I’m in harmony with abundance, I want abundance but it just doesn’t show up and when it does it doesn’t stay for long.”

Sound about right?

Okay, I hear you, but I’ll say it again…

If you aren’t experiencing abundance in your life, then you aren’t in harmony with abundance.

When you think about – and talk about abundance…are you REALLY in harmony with it, or are in in dis-harmony with it?

Be honest with yourself, because when you are honest, possibility is endless.

Look at the quote I gave you earlier, here it is again…

“I’m in harmony with abundance, I want abundance but it just doesn’t show up and when it does it doesn’t stay for long.”

The person who says this, are they in harmony or dis-harmony? This is so important – so really take a look. The person who says this thinks they are in harmony. But they are in complete dis-harmony. In fact, what they are in harmony with is LACK.

Now, here’s the good news, it is as easy to be in harmony with something as it is to be in dis-harmony with it. It just takes awareness. It takes a realignment of focus. It takes changing the song you are singing. Sing a song of lack and you get lack (even if you tell people you are singing a song of abundance) BUT, sing a song of abundance and you get ABUNDANCE. Change your song (your story) and you change your vibration. Change your song (story) to a true song of abundance, and you will literally tune yourself to the vibrations of abundance.

Now, let me tell you the key to this…

In singing, when you first learn a harmony line, it can be difficult to hold the line once other people start singing their lines. The way you handle that is repetition. The second you get pulled off your harmony line, you stop and sing it alone, over and over until it is the most natural and automatic line you can sing. Once you do this enough, it doesn’t matter what someone else is singing opposite you, you are suddenly able to hold your harmony line without even thinking about it.

It is the same with the harmony line of abundance – at first, it is a new melody for you – so, when life starts to happen, you may find you get pulled off track. Simply stop and use repetition until your new, abundance line becomes automatic and you sing it without even thinking about it.

That is when the doors of abundance fly open for you!

Quick Tip Look Who’s Talking…
You can do a ‘Harmony Check’ with anything that doesn’t seem to be showing up in your life. Here’s how you do it. Ask yourself, “What is the song I am singing about this?”

In other words – what is the story you are telling to yourself and others? A great way to discover this is to think about what you say when someone asks you about that area of your life. Most of us sum things up in a few sentences. These few sentences are your song (story) about that area.

Once you discover what your song is, then ask yourself this…

“Is the current song I am singing in harmony or dis-harmony with what I desire?”

Chances are good the answer will be dis-harmony, and that’s when you ask yourself this…

“How can I adjust my song so that it is in harmony?”

Then, write it down, practice it – make this your new song until it becomes completely natural!

“You have effectively been my companion through some very trying times for me. Interviewing I don’t know how many guests that have inspired me, thank you. Your service had become such a part of my life and I appreciate you very much.

I really do appreciate you Kristen, you Rock.

With Love, Maria”

Hi Thank you so very much for that amazing advice…..I think it puts things into prospective. I am a mother of 4 children, Bethany & Chalice twin girls 16, Jhania 14, and Thomas 12. It is challenging to stay in harmony when you have kids. I have been working on myself now for at least 10 years plus. When the kids get into their moments of dis-harmony, the vibration and the energy clings to you. I find it impossible to stay without re-acting, I really really try. I don’t want to keep resisting, I need a recipe. I need a solution and I need it yesterday :))), I really do try to stay in harmony, I cant stay angry. But kids are ONE of the GREATEST challenges. Living in hope and harmony everyday. IAM THAT, IAM.

      Hi Nicole!

Yes, being in harmony can be challenging (and kids can REALLY make it more challenging). Here’s my suggestion to you…

You said, “When the kids get into their moments of dis-harmony, the vibration and the energy clings to you. I find it impossible to stay without re-acting.”

I suggest that you change the end of that sentence to a NEW song (or story). So for instance perhaps your new song is…
“When the kids get into their moments of dis-harmony, the vibration and the energy clings to you. I take 30 seconds to stop and breathe and connect to the power of the Universe. I raise my eyes to the sky above me and repeat 10 times, the words ‘I am connected, I am harmony’ .”

That’s your new song – enjoy singing it!

      You are magnificent!

As a singer I completely understand this post, thank-you Kristen. It makes perfect sense! So now all I need to do is sing the praises of the life that my current level of abundance has got me: a home by the sea, a campervan to travel in, a loving partner, our band, our cat, beautiful cookware, healthy food and appliances to store and cook it, music to dance to and friends to enjoy it with, the Internet, a job that gets me out into nature… I could go on! 😀

  3. Michele Carter says:

    Dear Kristen,
Wonderful thought. I always thought I was singing in harmony but it is so easy to get off track unless you really have a particular song so to speak that is yours and is harmonic and positive. I thank you for that idea and I am going to be writing my new song!!!
    Thanks again Kristen.

  4. Joanna says:

Hi Kristin, I have listened to you for 15 months now and you make this sound easy to do. While I have stumbled a few times I realize my song is still not the one I plan for my life many times. But your message of not making it a struggle is so wonderful. I want to continue to hear these messages. Thank you very much for helping me find peace from the struggle.

    • Kristen says:

      Hi Barbara!

It’s wonderful having you here – and I feel confident that your song will continue to shift to be the song you want to sing to the world.

Stumbling is part of the journey – so be kind to yourself and gently remind yourself and you will get back in alignment.

      You are extraordinary!

Just when I thought you couldn’t get more profound in your articles, your article about harmony resonated (no pun originally intended 😉 with me more than any other. This was truly the answer to a lifetime riddle (fear) that I’ve used to keep myself out of relationships.

Thank you, once again, for your articles and your service to humanity!

    • Kristen says:

      Hi Tom!

WOW – how wonderful is this realization for you! Yes, often in relationships, we are scared to be in harmony for fear that we have to lose ourselves – the great thing about harmony is that it requires you to be your ‘self’ fully and completely!

      I appreciate you!

  12. Dave says:

Your timely wisdom and your way of expressing your messages are awesome. This helped me look at my map of reality and my list of desires in harmonic way. Thank you for your insights!

  13. Neerja says:

This is a wonderful blog about Harmony. Sometimes all it takes is someone to phrase things in a way that resonates deeply. This did that for me. I started singing when coming up with a new story and then I remembered Alanis Morisette’s Thank You song. I started singing this song, with what I am thankful for in my life for lyrics, and I felt in harmony with my life. Thank you for this blog today. Find your song and sing the lyrics of your life. Gratitude – Harmony. 🙂
My favorite line from this blog: “Is the current song I am singing in harmony or dis-harmony with what I desire?”

    • Kristen says:

      Hi there!

What a GREAT song to think of and sing – and I love the idea of finding an actual song that expresses the song you desire for your life.

      I appreciate you!

This was very helpful to me! It is a good reminder and you put it in easy to understand and easy to practice terms. I will be adding the “harmony check” to my daily routine and asking myself those pertinent questions about my own song that you listed. This is simple, yet powerful. Thank you so much! By the way, your programs are just fantastic and I have come to depend on them and the information & teachings your guests bring to us all. I look forward each day to listening to the replays while at work! I have purchased the special offers from time-to-time too, and I love them and use them often!

    • Kristen says:

Thank YOU Cindy – first of all, I’m thrilled that you will be adding the ‘harmony check’ to your day and I can’t wait to hear the difference that makes.

Secondly, I really appreciate you taking the time to comment about my programs and manifest everything now – that means the world to me!

      You are extraordinary!

Okay, it took me three months to get to this, but it came to my consciousness at just the right time. I am trying to deal with my assistant (by replacing her), but that effort has caused a rift with my financial partner (who wants to steal the building from me and blame me for everything). One of his accusations is that I have created a “hostile work environment” for my assistant. My frustration with her reaches a fever pitch when those tasks I have specifically asked her to perform are not done, causing me real harm financially and with my time. Since I am preparing to hire a new assistant, I thought I could tolerate her too frequently dropping the ball, but today it happened again. Remembering what my partner had said, I tried to see my reaction from his, or at least, the tenants’, perspective, and simmered down. That disharmony was causing too much trouble. Your post about practicing harmony came at just the right time. Thanks for sending it.
