Is Goal Trauma Blocking Your Path to Success?

By Margaret Lynch

Have you ever wanted something so badly, but it fell apart after you did everything in your power to make it happen? And as a result, you:

  • Trust yourself less
  • Trust other people and the Universe less
  • Are more skeptical of the idea that anything is possible

If so, you have goal trauma and it’s casting a dark cloud over new goals and your willingness to really go after them.

Goals are powerful tools that can dramatically increase your success and grow your wealth, if used properly. But if you have goal trauma, and unless you make a sincere effort to clear it, you are unlikely to fulfill any goal that is worthy of true and monumental success.

With trauma, you become much more conservative about thinking big and you avoid getting your hopes up when setting new goals. Instead of approaching them with a fresh and willing attitude, you feel stressed and anxious and are less resilient when challenges occur. Rather than jump into action, you’ll procrastinate, take half-hearted steps, or be indecisive about what to do. You have a personal power shortage hindering you from fulfilling new income goals and earning more money.

Why pursue a goal if you don’t trust yourself or if you believe it’s impossible based on your experience in the past?

While you can’t undo the past, you can make a massive shift in how you see past events.

The reality, whether it is readily visible to you yet or not, is that you learned a lot of lessons about what you’re doing and about your perceived strengths and weaknesses. Looking back into the past should not be a roadblock to future success: it should be insight into how you can become better, smarter, and actually MORE likely to succeed.

In looking back, you can also learn to recognize patterns, like self–criticism, that you go into because of these past traumas.

Putting yourself and your abilities down will almost always sabotage your success.

When you have goal trauma, it looms darkly as a cautionary tale of what can go wrong and the mistakes you might make as you set a new income goal. Having such an emotionally charged event like this that you never honor keeps it with you. Until you honor the grief, loss, and pain, it stays stuck.

Here are 2 great tools to use to banish goal trauma…

Tool 1: You can use Tapping to release and honor what is blocking the progress of your goals, and then you can use what you’ve learned in the past to really succeed with new goals in the future.

Getting through old events can become THE reason you trust yourself more now and know your strengths.

Tool 2: Here is something to do right now to get free from Goal Trauma…

Think about and old event and ask yourself, “If I could live through that, can I handle just about anything this new goal throws my way?”

The truth is, you’ve already come through this event and received gifts from it that you use all the time. How can they help, from this point on, with your new goals? Let this goal trauma story transform into your hero story.

Sometimes challenges are put in your path to strengthen and prepare you for what’s coming next; you need to learn some lessons before you’re ready to take on your true goals and be the hero of your mission!

Quick Tip Look Who’s Talking…
For every single ‘goal’ that didn’t work out as planned, I can guarantee there is a powerful and positive message you can take from it. If you are like many folks, you know what it feels like to look back at something that was disappointing and think “OH! I get it – that is why that happened!” So, the trick is to look at any of your goal traumas and do this exact exercise.

Ask “When I look at this again now, what are all of the positive reasons (that I couldn’t see then) that this happened?” NOW, this requires you to be willing to see the positive reasons – I promise, when you are willing to do this, brilliant things are revealed and your entire negative energy around that situation shifts and raises and empowers you.

Kristen was born to do this, it seems.

Her positivity, combined with her knack for pulling from the ethers the perfect questions to ask of her guests—not to mention her lovely vocal resonance—makes each “Manifest Everything Now” segment an inspiring treat!”

    Great post!
I am still looking for the solution to get there, with the help of coaches. I don’t fully understand why it hasn’t worked yet, but i expect to understand Al. Ar the end (the positive and the negative). I don’t know if i have a goal trauma ir if it’s just taking too long, because i’m focused, determined and disciplened, and quitting is not am option.

      Hi Nuno!

When you look and judge if it is taking too long – you are actually in resistance to your desire. Anytime you find yourself tempted to look at that, shift to a focus of looking for proof that what you desire exists in the world – and celebrate that proof – then you are in alignment!

What if I haven’t achieved any of my big goals? It’s not a matter of looking at one failed attempt differently, it’s a systemic and global issue.
    Thanks

      Hi Jimi!

Try breaking the big goals down into smaller goals – this is right in alignment with my ‘Ready, Aim Success’ program and has helped so many people finally break through their stumbling blocks!

EVERYTIME I USE AFFIRMATIONS ASKING FOR SOMETHING. SOMEBODY ELSE GETS WHAT I WANT.

    • Kristen says:

      Hi Elly!

Someone else getting what you want is PROOF that what you want exists – so celebrate it when you see it! (If you don’t and you resent it or feel badly, then your energetically resisting the very thing you desire.)
