WIIFM – What’s In It For Me?

Welcome back to the Law of Attraction Key Newsletter!

When we focus our life energy on creating experiences that are of benefit to ourselves and everyone involved, we truly shift to a higher level of living. This means you value yourself AND other people (not one instead of the other). Living with a value/value awareness re-connects you to the Universe and the abundance and joy that is your birthright AND you simultaneously help raise Universal consciousness (yes, you ARE that powerful)!

Also, in the Quick Tip section I give you one of my favorite Power Questions to help you shift any struggle with someone else (or with yourself) to harmony – I’m excited for you to use this.

I want to thank you in advance for sharing your comments and questions today! It is amazing to be able to hear from you and help you along your journey – your voice is unique and valuable! When you leave comments and questions after these articles, it helps me get to know you and what you need and how I can best help. I highly encourage you to take action – leave a comment or a question and come back for my reply – I look forward to talking with you here!

WIIFM – What’s In It For Me?

By Noah St. John

I’m sure you’ve heard of the radio station WIIFM. It stands for “What’s In It For Me?” That’s the station our minds are attuned to 24/7/365.

When you are listening to someone, reading something, watching TV, doing A-N-Y-T-H-I-N-G and E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G, in your mind is a constant patter of:

“What in it for me? What is the BENEFIT I’m going to get from doing this? Why should I do this?”

Everyone wants to make more money, grow your business, and share your gifts with more people around the world.

If you are the one person in a million (and this number is pretty accurate) who thinks in terms of the OTHER person’s benefit, it’s going to be awfully hard to turn down your request.

On the other hand, if you act like everyone else – only thinking in terms of your OWN benefit – it will be very EASY to turn you down. So…

Here are 5 ways you can tune into station WIIFT – What’s In It For THEM:

1. Put yourself in the other person’s shoes. Really.

Of course, you know what YOU want. But did you take the time to think about what THEY want?

What you want and what they want do not have to be at odds. 99 times out of 100, there’s a way for both of you to get what you want—or something darn close to it.

2. Do your research.

Visit the site of the person or company you want to do business with. See what they’re up to. Who are their key players, what are they working on, what’s important to them.

How many emails do you get that start with, “Dear Sir or Madam…” Delete. Don’t be that person.

3. Give honest appreciation.

When I first met Jack Canfield in 1998, the first words out of my mouth were, “Hello, Mr. Canfield. I’ve been a fan of yours for a long time.”

I went on to tell him how I’d been seeing him everywhere online. Remember, this was years before most people even had a website!

He got the message that I was not just another fan, but someone who had really done his homework. That got his attention.

4. Ask better questions.

You’ve heard about my discovery of Afformations – empowering questions that help you manifest your desires twice as fast with half the effort. In addition to Afformations, when you talk with people, ask questions that start with Who, What, Where, Why, When or How.

These open-ended questions lead to deeper answers than just “yes” or “no”. But remember – you’re asking about what’s important to THEM, not you!

5. Come up with options.

You’re looking for a situation where everyone wins. Here are some things you can do to help THEM win:
• Solo mailing to your list about their new project.
• Blog post about them.
• Tweet to your followers how great THEY are.
• Facebook post with a link to their site.
• Drop their name in every seminar you do (something I’ve done for Jack Canfield ever since he “discovered” me)
Once you tune yourself to radio station WIIFT, you’ll find that people are much more willing to help you.

So is that something you want to do? Of course it is. Why? Because of WIIFY (You)!

Noah’s Note: Things get very easy when you’re always talking about how the OTHER person benefits.

Quick Tip Look Who’s Talking…
Let’s quickly talk about the value of Honest Appreciation (I love that Noah brought the importance of this to light). When you are struggling with someone else, one of the fastest ways to resolve the energy of struggle is to ask yourself this power question:“What can I appreciate about this person right now?”

I promise you, you will ALWAYS be able to find something to appreciate EVEN IF it means you have to search and search. This is so powerful because it gives your conscious mind a new focus, and with that new focus, struggle will dissolve. (This works well if you are struggling to approve of or like yourself as well.)

“Thank you for creating these programs.I enjoy hearing and reading from the experts you have brought to us. Many have given me a new perspective in my thinking and actions.

Keep up the good work!”

  1. I love Noah St. John’s Book of Afformations and have made up some questions of my own that really help lift my vibration.

This posting really helps because I had two incidents in the last 12 hours that demonstrated how even those of us who really care about “what’s in it for them,” in this case the client, can get rebuffed and knocked around. No one’s omniscient after all. What can I appreciate about these two people? What a great question!

Thanks for these postings. Keep them coming.

      Hello Rosemary!

It is ALWAYS so great to hear from you – and yes, “What can I appreciate about…” is a question that has turned around SO many situations for me – I’m excited it resonated with you. YOU ARE AWESOME (in the true meaning of the word awesome)…

      I believe in you!

I was glad to read something by Noah St. John again. Years ago I saw his name regularly with e-zines I was receiving. No matter how often we are told to think of the other person, it is hard to do it all the time. Self-indulgence and self-preservation kicks in. I find that doing little, unexpected actions for friends and neighbors makes me feel as good as it makes them feel. It’s a good way to stay in practice – especially for those of us not active in the business world.

  4. Marcela says:

I love your tips. They help me a lot.

  5. nicholas says:

What other tips or suggestions can you send me that will assist me with manifesting what i want and also help other people?

    • Kristen says:

      Hi Nicolas!

For other tips and suggestions, I would say make your way through the past articles of this magazine. Take them one at a time and really apply what they reveal and pay special attention to the TIP section in each as that is where I give you simple ways to immediately benefit and apply what has been shared.

      You are extraordinary!
