Subconscious Power

By Marybeth Murphy

The subconscious is 90% of our entire mind and holds our spiritual connection, intuition, creativity, feelings, emotions, long-term memory, involuntary bodily functions, developmental stages as well as our habits, patterns and addictions. As our conscious mind, the other 10%, scans the immediate world, it interacts with the subconscious to retrieve data through stored experiences, emotions, feelings and desires. This is a daily rapid fire process of analyzing stimuli to decide on immediate conscious physical action. We are guided as well through our day by our subconscious vibration which connects us to people, places and opportunities that will help us carry out our aspirations.

Remember imagining and daydreaming as a child, that feel good place where all was possible? The idea of our vision not happening was never a reality for that belief was not in our thought process and so our subconscious saw it as real. We only begin to tear away at our vision when we consciously develop negative dialogues and/or limited belief systems. Consistently dwelling upon negative thoughts places it in our subconscious as fact. Everything is truth in the subconscious, it can be a place of pure creation, potential and power or not. Understanding what is stored in the part of our mind that guides our daily behavior is the place to start understanding ourselves, realizing why we do what we do and how these dominate part of our mind is oriented.

Visiting this space of possibility or fear can be a daunting experience for some of us because it means acknowledging and analyzing issues or behaviors tucked away in the recesses of our mind. However it is important because whatever is here is what we react to, whether we are consciously aware of it or not and I have some tools to help you…

The following exercises will assist in unlocking pure potential and gaining a perspective on what lies within this area of your mind:

Tool #1:

When you wake in the morning, write the answer to this question, “How do I feel?” Journal for five minutes; whatever comes up, positive or negative, let the thoughts flow. If a negative thought arises, do not judge it; simply, let it exist, without any emotion at all. Be sure to use the full five minutes. In the evening, answer the question, “How do I see myself?” Once again, journal for the full five minutes without judgment. Do this for two weeks and then go back to look at your answers. They can vary from day to day but pay particular attention to any positive or negative repetitive thoughts. This will provide insight to your subconscious thought pattern and vibration. Once acknowledged, you can change your focus and work on those patterns that require positive adjustment.

Tool #2:

Another effective tool is to ask yourself, “What am I getting out of this behavior?”. We only do something when it serves us. When engaging in any behavior that does not feel good, step back for a moment and take in all that is going on around you. Consciously checking in for a moment stops our knee jerk reactions while examining the dynamics of the situation. This process interrupts the subconscious reaction pattern and provides insight into why we are acting or reacting the way we are. Steps can then be taken to adjust or heal the wounded behavior that is discovered.

More Tools:

Meditation, hypnosis and intuitive study are other tools that will help us connect with the larger part of our mind and unlock our gifts. Since our spiritual connection and intuition are stored here, we can ask our Guardian Angels for assistance in seeing what needs to be released or healed.

Go ahead, have some fun, imagine and create. We have all heard the expression, “What an active imagination!”. It is because of believing in the imagination we have many of the amazing technological advances we utilize today. It does not have to be logical, throw logic away and just enjoy the flow of creative energy. Get lost and believe in the vision as well as the feel good emotions that come from seeing your dream as reality.

Quick Tip Look Who’s Talking…
You can use your imagination to create an extraordinary life IF you allow yourself to imagine without limits. To do this, first decide that you are just playing (this takes the pressure off) then decide that you are going to have fun, and then decide you are going to free yourself of figuring out HOW any of your imaginings can happen.Once you have made those 3 decisions, set a timer for 5-10 minutes and at the top of a piece of paper write, “It would be thrilling if I could spend my time…” and then start automatic writing – just list anything that comes to mind. It doesn’t have to make sense, it doesn’t have to seem possible – you simply need to have fun. Get into it. Imagine how a kid would do this exercise and go into it with that enthusiasm. The point to this is to begin to open you up to new ways of seeing the world – and to remind yourself to be playful in the life you are creating. The enthusiasm and energy this exercise creates can cause massive shifts in your life. GO FOR IT! “I appreciate your postings, words that are positive and true and meaningful expand the universal love of all of us in this awesome universe!Words such as extraordinary, beautiful, creative, full of heart, sparkly and bright, etc… make this world go round and produce positive results.Thank you for opening up this light and peace.”

What am I getting out of this behavior? What a great question for a wake-up call for actions that we “know and feel” aren’t right but we’re doing them anyway. This is good for positive behaviors too so we remember what we like and what others appreciate or enjoy.

Life is too short to get bogged down in the daily grind. Let your imagination take you to places & possibilities without limits.

As Marybeth says “Remember imagining and daydreaming as a child, that feel good place where all was possible? The idea of our vision not happening was never a reality for that belief was not in our thought process and so our subconscious saw it as real. We only begin to tear away at our vision when we consciously develop negative dialogues and/or limited belief systems”.

When we moved from childhood to structured schooling, many of us started to lose the ability to escape to an alternate universe. The reality of schoolwork, social pressures, sports etc led us to other ways of thinking.

Every decision we made was based on how we were taught or how we felt. Thus, how we acted or reacted was based on what we had learned in these formative years. It was built into our subconscious. Everything we learn is there and it is accessible.

“How do I feel?” whether positive or negative, has an influence on how we go about that day. How we choose to allow it to affect us, positive or negative. Decisions we make on how “How do I feel?” are choices.

We could choose to allow negative influences affect our lives and eat us inside or we could choose to let everything go and choose to enjoy the day, regardless of what happens.

Another question you could ask is “Is the decision I am about to make going to take me towards my goals?”.

“Is what I am about to do or say going to make this person’s day (whether that be you, your partner, your child, work colleague, customer etc) better or worse?”.

By making a commitment to improve your life and the lives of others, you automatically raise your own energy vibration level and thus, manifest positive energy!

I shall leave you with one of my favourite quotes –

‘Keep your thoughts positive because your thoughts become your words. Keep your words positive because your words become your behaviors. Keep your behaviors positive because your behaviors become your habits. Keep your habits positive because your habits become your values. Keep your values positive because your values become your destiny.’
    ~ Gandhi
