Issue 153 – 5 Manifesting Myths

5 Manifesting Myths

By Jeanette Maw

It’s not surprising that the general public holds many misconceptions about the law of attraction and how to use it.

But even among LOA savvy deliberate creators there are common misunderstandings about what exactly is involved in manifesting what we want.

Here are some of my favorite law of attraction myths:

Myth #1 – You’re supposed to feel good or be happy all the time.

That’s not just impossible (for most of us), it’s not even preferable.

For one thing, 24/7 joy would get boring after a while; and for another, contrast is part of the whole creation process. It’s not only expected that we’ll run into negative emotions, it’s virtually required. Without negative experiences and thoughts, we don’t have new desires. And new desires fuel the whole expansion of life.

While deliberate creators know that bad moods are actually highly beneficial, we also know not to get stuck in them. We don’t have to be in one for long to get the benefit!

Myth #2 – You can use law of attraction to control life.

Much as you might wish you could get your boyfriend to propose, or husband to get a job, or kid to stop smoking, or neighbor to move – you’re actually only ever in charge of yourself and your vibration.

We don’t use LOA to control others. We use LOA to manage our own vibration and direct our own life experiences.

If I’m using law of attraction to get others to do things different so I feel better, I’m missing the whole point of vibration management.

Myth #3 – Negative thoughts are bad.

Sometimes negative thoughts are your best ticket to alignment.

When my neighbor once suggested we take revenge on our troublemaker neighbor by slashing the tires on his annoyingly noisey scooter, we burst into laughter at the mere thought of resorting to violence to improve our situation.

That negative thought brought a lot of relief.

Negative thoughts also contribute to our contrast, which as we know fuels expansion. There’s nothing wrong with having a “bad” thought now and then.

Myth #4 – Manifesting what you want will make you happy.

New Priuses don’t make you happy; marriage proposals can’t make you happy; promotions at work won’t do it either – only YOU can make you happy.

You can manifest a world of things and experiences, but if you don’t find the happy vibe on your own, nothing else will take you there.

Myth #5 – You can create whatever you want.

Much as we like to say we can create whatever we want, the truth is we create whatever we believe. That, unfortunately, is sometimes a big difference.

The work of a deliberate creator is to eliminate that difference by consciously choosing thoughts that are in alignment to their desire.

So the good news for conscious creators is that it’s okay to occasionally feel bad and think contrary thoughts, that you can forget using law of attraction to get others to do what you want, that it’s your job and yours alone to find happiness, and that you can manifest whatever you dare believe in. Pretty good gig, huh?

“Great stuff you are doing here.
As a LOA practitioner I think people need this kind of value. I love your work and commend your style.
Keep it rocking.”

Quick Tip

Listen up because this is important – there is so much within you just waiting to be revealed and shared with the world. IF you limit yourself by what you think is possible, you will stay stuck – you have within you all of the magnificence of the Universe and one of the best ways to discover all of that – especially if you have kept it shut down for a long time – is to start to play.

Give yourself permission – set an alarm for 30 minutes and for that 30 minutes give yourself permission to play and to entertain any positive thought or idea that pops into your head even if it doesn’t seem logical. At the top of a piece of paper, write – “What if I am completely supported? What if everything is for my highest good? THEN what do I want to have my daily experience be?”

Thanks for the tips. Good to be reminded of truth!

All that I believe does not seem to be shared by many people. It is difficult to find meaningful relationships. Any suggestions?

    • Kristen says:

      Hi Virginia!

This is exactly what I just suggested to Perry – all relationships must be activated within you first. What do you want to experience with other people? Activate it within yourself first – experience it within yourself first – celebrate it within yourself first!

  3. Perry says:

How to attract positive people in network marketing? What’s the best thing to do?

  4. Joe says:

hey girl … i never comment on anything, but i feel compelled … i’ve been in recovery for just over a year and when i became a seeker, i cast a WIDE net for help …. so i’ve been on basically every email list there is … and have narrowed it down to just a few these days … yours being one … i’m currently working a couple programs and spiritual practices that have changed my life immensely (one of which i got through you so i thank you for that) … and listen to your interviews etc … i really respect the way you handle yourself and promote your products (and others) … it’s so easy to promise the world to everyone without practical steps etc … i know it IS a magical world once you harness a few concepts regarding LOA etc. … but some of the promotions go beyond any possible reality (perhaps) …. at any rate i’ve just decided to get your 7-day program (while composing this!) .. i warn you, i will return it if it doesn’t work (and i’ll give it my all) … but i’m sure it’ll deliver … the point to this rambling, is i respect you for what you are doing and i wish you all the best both personally and professionally …. thank you … joe

    • Kristen says:

That’s awesome Joe! And I am honored to be one of the few you have narrowed it down to. Enjoy the 7 Day Program and YES please let me know what shifts for you with it 🙂

  5. Erica says:

Thank you sooooo much. I have always known theses things to be true (you can’t manipulate free will, it’s impossible to remain happy all the time). It is such a relief to know I am not crazy, also this puts things in perspective a bit for me. YOU are awesome. Thanks again.

  7. Virginia says:

Thanks for reminding folks that being angry, unhappy, frustrated, etc. is a normal part of life and does not have an adverse affect on the good affirming thoughts and actions you take the rest of the time. As you stated – it might even break the tension or put you into a more creative mode.

  8. Mercy says:

    Dear Kristen,

    I love your teachings.

    God bless you.

Just want to thank you for all the experts you share. I find their methods very powerful.
And I get. The subjects are so inspiring and it opens up a whole new(but not new) angle
Of looking at life. Our purpose and the true meaning of
    Our existence.
I love what you are providing and look forward for more.
Back in the 70’s I started reading books like Edgar Case. Carlos Castaneda. Not realizing
I was looking for the secret. I also followed some teachings of that guru who
Moved his followers to Oregon. I watched the secret many times
But I could not get it. But I get your message loud and clear.
Like going to church and hearing the gospel.
    And thank.

This is profound and I will use it on my journey. Thanks

  15. Joshua Clayton says:

I understand, and I am co-pesectic with it.

  16. Joshua Clayton says:

Let me make my comment more clear before you post my original unvarnished views. I not only follow those five rules, but I am insufferably patient to the seeming chagrin of average people. If I was an “impatient normal person” I would “cry in my beer” at these myths and say the word impossible… But I do fully understand, that’s all.

  17. Bolaji says:

It’s about a year now that I receive resources from you. Today’s is a must-read for all creators. Well done.

  18. Sanjay says:

Thanks ! It already working for me and I am enjoying it.

  19. Greg De Tisi says:

Great Insights there. Cheers. It’s easy to think that we have to in some way be perfect or something to attract or manifest what we wish to see. I am telling my clients all of the time that, we are human and, we can learn from everything.

    Great post

    • Kristen says:

Great Greg! And yes, the more we can embrace that we are human AND embrace that being human and having this experience is a beautiful thing the more free we are!

  20. Joannes says:

    This is so………………………….Thank You,Thank You………………………….Thank You.
This makes me realize finally……………………..that I am not alone.
Thank you so much for this.

    • Kristen says:

      Hi Joannes!

I can feel the gratitude in your message and I appreciate you too! You are the opposite of alone – you are loved and supported completely!

  21. Rita says:

    Hi Kristen

I feel so close to you because I am a performer, Broadway person, commercials, vo, singer, actress on and on.
I’ve been very successful but lately I have actually stated I want stardom! Well, really the success stardom brings in this industry. I have been doing so well, since I started two of your programs. Booked a few commercials in last month and some rocking auditions for film and tv which is where I want to go.
AS you know competition is fierce.
Rejection gets on my vibe sometimes, I doubt, second guess etc.
I get into class and start to think I’ll never get good enough, fast enough. It’s a cycle I’m aware of but doesn’t feel good.
    Have any suggestions.

with love and appreciation to you

    • Kristen says:

      Hi Rita!

It is wonderful to hear from you – and it is important that you remember that your external life is created by your consciousness – that means YOU are directly connected to source. You are already enough. You are already enough. YOU ARE ENOUGH! 🙂

  22. Marie Horwat says:

Jesus said: If you can believe, all things are possible. He also said: Call those things that are not as though they are.

  23. Emmanuel Bassey says:

You are unique and different, my wish and desire is to see you in person. I know that this wish will manifest soon cos am working on it. Cheers

  24. Tricia says:

I admit, I am a little confused by the varying information I read about manifesting. I have recently started using 3 manifestation exercises that were brought to my attention: saying “thank you” aloud when I get up each morning, reminding myself that “I always have money”, and “mentally spending the money”. When I think of the second step, a contrary thought tends to arise at the same time, “Yes, I always have money, but just barely enough to pay the basic expenses”. I don’t focus on this thought, yet it is there. Am I doing it wrong? Should I be suppressing it and focussing solely on the bit about having money? The third step is the most fun, as I imagine spending money on things I’d like and things I need. I do not have ideas of grandeur, like owning a big, fancy manor house and having servants to do my every bidding, yet someone I know says I am restricting myself. I imagine living in a home of 1200 square feet, with a loving husband, my guide dog (I am totally blind), and perhaps a cat or 2. A house larger than that would become difficult to clean and keep up. I don’t imagine having servants because the help I need does not require live-in servants. I’d greatly appreciate your advice on this. Having read this article, is it okay that this negative thought comes up? Am I really restricting myself in the third step of the exercise?

    • Kristen says:

      Hi Tricia!

Try this instead – shift the 2nd step from “I always have money” to “I am directly connected to the source of everything – all I need is within me now.”

And really feel into being directly connected to source – THAT is the energy to activate!

  25. Kelly Barnett says:

I have been trying so hard to get a handle on this LOA, sometimes I believe in it, and sometimes I don’t. My life is such a DISASTER!!! I want so badly to just be happy and be out of debt!!!! I owe money to just so many people, and I’m so scared that I will ALWAYS be in debt!!! HELP!!!!

    • Kristen says:

      Hi Kelly!

Remember, what you give your consistent attention and focus to is what you get more of. Right now (from your message here) it appears that you are focused on your life being a disaster and your debt. I understand that is tempting as it is what is showing up in your physical world – however, you must consistently bring your focus back to things you have a good feeling and vibration about (the true key with manifesting is to change your energetic state)…

  26. LPR says:

Hi Kristen. You often tell us we are appreciated. Well you are greatly appreciated. You are such good value that you are now one of the very few I read. Thank you.

  27. Matome Phillix says:

Thank you very much. It’s really true that sometimes a little negativity is good for your growth. I always tell my friends that I always appreciate the negative people in my life, that’s the enemies as they help shape who I am.
