Issue 176 – Self-Talk Shakedown

Self-Talk Shakedown

By David Cameron Gikandi

As a man thinketh, so is he. Once you realize that your world arises from your thoughts and emotions, that your outer situations reflect your inner state, you start to see a much larger pattern working in your life. You start to understand how your financial, relationship and health situations arise, why they are so, and how you can change them without fail.

One of the patterns that you can now recognize as having a massive effect on your life is your self-talk pattern. We all talk to ourselves in our minds. We hold this mental conversation with ourselves that never stops. It is on all day long, and it is about your world and you, you, you.

You maintain your world by your self-talk. Remember, what you think about is what determines your next moments. The problem with self-talk is that it is mostly negative, it is limited to your limited ideas of what should be, and it is 90% repetitive. This is what keeps your world as it is. When you finally stop the self-talk, your world takes on a renewed magnificence, it goes back to the way it naturally should be, optimistic and positive.

There are three kinds of people…

1. There are those that are not even aware that they are having a mental conversation with themselves in their head all the time. They don’t know. If you ask them “What are you thinking about?” they can’t even remember what they were thinking about just a couple of seconds ago.

2. Then there are those who know they have mental self-talk, but they are unable to control its direction and unable to turn it off.

3. Finally, there is a small fraction of the population that can turn it off completely. These are the masters. They have managed this feat simply by choosing to. They have chosen to quiet the mind and become aware. Their mind is where the body is and not running of in a permanent dreamland that is all about tomorrow and yesterday. But the only way the mind can be where the body is is by being quite and simply observant without comment, judgement or thought.

As long as you keep your self-talk on, you will be bound to repeat the same path, the same choices, the same errors, over and over. There is nothing new and nothing fresh. The reason is simply because you keep repeating the same self-talk. 90% of the 50,000 thoughts you have per day are repetitive.

How would life be without self-talk? Imagine that life is a river called Life. Life is always flowing, always fresh, always progressive and powerful, always clear and clean. Now imagine that your self-talk is a garbage truck parked by the side of that river. Now, as long as you keep dumping trash into the river, the river will be covered in flowing trash, because you are dumping it in there all day long. The moment you stop dumping the trash, it will take just a few moments for the river to clear and go back to its natural reality.

People think that their thinking is what helps them. Thinking is like any other tool. The right amount of it at the right time is useful, but too much is destructive and polluting. You probably need to think about 10% of the time only, no more.

Audit your thoughts today.

See what you are thinking about. Set an alarm on your watch to go off every 10 minutes. When it goes off, say ‘wake up!’ to yourself and ask yourself what you were thinking of, whether it had any scenarios of things going wrong, any negativity, and so on. You will be shocked to see how much crap is probably going on in your head.

Become aware of your self-talk and stop it.

Look around. See the world as it is, without commentary and judgement. Don’t think. Wait. At the right time, your spirit will give you the appropriate Thought. The other mental noise is not real Thought. It is the ego camouflaging its fears by creating all sorts of noise and calling it ‘thinking’. Real thought is clear, powerful, decisive, and lovingly without fear. It is a statement of pure knowing.

When you stop your self-talk, you create a vacuum.

Have intent on what you wish your life to be, and hold the essence of that intent always, but don’t obsess mentally about it. Have an intent that will not bend, but don’t obsess mentally about it. Simply know that what you intend will be so and leave it at that. You can visualize your intent every now and then. In fact, you should visualize your intent once in a while, perhaps twice or thrice a day, for visualization is creative and highly powerful. But that’s it; no need to obsess.

Create a vacuum. Let nature fill it. Life is a magnificent force. When you stop filling your cup with littleness, it will fill it with greatness. Life cannot show you what it truly is if you keep telling it how it should be. When you drop your self-talk, the most amazing accomplishments begin to happen, because your self-talk, based on littleness, is what replenishes and maintains a world of littleness instead of grandeur.

“Hello Kristen , I wanted to let you know that after taking your course I saw results right away. I have tried many courses with little results , yours helped my see wonderful results . I hate to use this term but it was almost magical I can’t wait for what the future brings, anything I will. I am writing this while vacationing in South America over the holidays ( before never possible) we got word on our vacation that my wife got a bonus on top of her yearly bonus , I could go on and on Kristen you are the real deal.
Thank you – Steve”

Quick Tip

“When you stop filling your cup with littleness, it will fill with greatness.” I love that David wrote that because it is SO true.

Think about it now – how many of your ‘goals’ are based on the little you think or can see is possible instead of what you really feel within your soul? Is that really the intention you have for your life? Do you intend to simply survive and get through or, when you suspend the fear, do you feel your intention is much greater than that and involves expanding into the most extraordinary YOU there is?

Playing small to protect yourself is something many do – and if that’s you, it isn’t your fault, we were all trained this way – however it can be different and it all starts with a decision. Decide today to allow greatness in. You don’t need to know how it will show up – you simply need to decide to let it in and allow it when it moves within you. Are you in? Leave me a comment here to let me know you are IN!

About 20 years ago I discovered that Ego is not the enemy nor does it have any voice. It is a the file manager for our mind. In a sense it is our memory support system. it transfers information from our Conscious mind and files it in our Subconscious Mind. and conversely it will search the files and bring up files we ask for we need to work with or for a conversation. when we stop beating up on Ego our short term memory becomes more effective. I have developed a hierarchy on how our mind processes information. It is based on the Hawaiian Kuhuna system I began working with 30 years ago.

Wow ! That was amazing ! I sort of knew this but not deep down? I have been trying to quiet my mind for years with some succes but something always drags me back down ? So can you help me with that ? Much love sean x

Hi Sean – I actually just wrote a reply to someone else here that also applies to you – here is what it said…

“Remember, the key to it all is you must shift internally before anything will shift externally. Everything is energy and your only job is to get your energy in as positive of a state as possible at any time. NOW, that doesn’t mean you are going to be ecstatic to start – sometimes raising your energy means looking for thoughts that will support you shifting upward from grief into frustration (as frustration is a higher vibration) – so make this your focus now – to simply always be raising your vibration slightly (not in leaps and bounds, but 1 level at a time). Here is a guide to help you from the book “Ask and It is Given” by Abraham-Hicks…

Thank you for the Self Talk Shakedown. I found this article interesting in that I am able to understand which type of person I am in terms of understanding my mental self talk. I found that in identifying where the self talk originates, I can then address why I am talking so negatively to myself. I find that the only way to shut the negative self talk down is to look at “where” the origins of the self talk lie. Many times I have to revisit the “child” who developed this self talk / belief about self and address the core of the emotion. By replaying the event, and facing the “fear, anger, loneliness, etc.”, the charge gets cancelled out and the negative self talk stops. Its been a long journey, from suicide and addictions to where I am now. Its a wonderful journey, as I discover my potential. Thank you very much, as this was a reminder that I do still have “unconscious” self talk to address.

Hi Sarah! I SO appreciate you sharing your story and journey with us – I am excited for you to continue to let your light shine brighter and brighter still!

I don’t know how to thank you.You are sent by God for uplifting me,you don’t need the money of broken hearts but you really want to raise people and I bless you in Jesus name.

  7. Santhosh Paul says:

I don’t know how to thank you because so great a thing you are doing for me.I firmly believe that you are sent to me by God to uplift me.Most often I start my day with meditation.I practice reiki, yoga every day and I have read “The secret” and a lots of motivational books but I don’t know when I go outside always there’s some one to quarrel with me for no reason at all. There starts my self talk and begin to! destruct my business and every creativity.I think only you can help me,God bless you my brother because only you haven’t asked for money from me since I am financially broken totally even without pennies and living with a broken heart.I really bless you in Jesus name, thank you.

Thanks Kristen, it´s a pleasure to read this info, it contains splendid information to personal growing. I´d like to set out a question that´s important to me. In this moment I do my own audios to improve my life in all facets, and I can say that I´m glad with the results that I got so far. Normally I work to eliminate the inner self negative chatter with 14.5 Hz, but I move between 11.5-14.5 Hz, making a sound sweep lowest to highest. My query is, do you have an advisable frequency to help clean out the negative chatter? And what about solfeggio frequencies?
Looking forward … I reiterate my warmest regards.

I have long realized the power of self-talk, but I must admit that much of it was on the negative side. Thanks for the tips on how to hone in on what I am thinking…the 10-minute intervals. I will write those down to see what the pattern is.

    Thanks, again.

    Hi,

I have been struggling for quite a number of years to change since discovering metaphysics. I have read and read and listened to audio regarding LOA to no avail. What can I do? I have tried everything.

I would greatly appreciate any information you may be able to provide.

    Many thanks,

    Lara

    Dear Kristen

Thank-you very much for this publication.I like the example that you have used, of a river and the truck of gabbage next to it. I have been let down many times in my life and that has even changed the pattern of my thoughts. I am also fighting social phobia and shyness. I can’t say a word in public and I suffer from blushes most of the time. I am strugling with eye contact.

Now on, I just want to fill my cup with greatness. Thanks Kristen.
