There’s Always a “Secret” Backdoor…
By Vic Johnson
It took me 50 years to write my first book. I’ve written twelve more since. More than half of them have been legitimate Amazon bestsellers. I recently wrote one in a weekend. Yes, one whole weekend. So why did it take so long to write the first one? Lots of the same reasons that most people have. Too many responsibilities. Not enough time. Kids, work, etc.
But the real reason it took me so long is because I didn’t believe I could do it. I just imagined, from everything I had heard, that it was a tough process. All I could picture was Hemingway hunched over his Corona typewriter for weeks at a time, stopping only occasionally to slug down a martini.
When I finally made up my mind that I was going to do it one way or another, I did a lot of research on the book business. What I found was amazing and very encouraging.
The first thing I discovered was that many of the millions of books sold every year are “information” books. Written for people who are looking for a solution, like How To Invest, How To Eat, How To Plant a Garden, How To, How To, How To.
There’s no plot and there are no characters to create. It’s much simpler than that. (1) Identify the problem(s), (2) Identify the solution(s), (3) Research the solution(s), (4) Provide the solutions in an easy-to-read A-Z format.
Then I discovered that there were so many ways to create a book other than sitting at a keyboard. For instance, you can create an outline and record a presentation like you were speaking to an audience. Then have it transcribed and turn it over to a freelance writer/editor and have them organize the information into book form.
Self-improvement legend Brian Tracy, who has more than 50 books published in 38 languages says, “Dictating your book is one of the most powerful exercises I have ever discovered, and dramatically increases the speed at which you create your initial manuscript. When you dictate you’re forced to write in a conversational tone of voice. This adds warmth to your material, and makes it easier and more enjoyable to read for the reader.” I’ve done that several times and scored with “Top 10 in Category” eBooks. I even wrote a book (that became an Amazon bestseller) showing others how to do that.
But the biggest reason I finally made the plunge and why it’s gotten easier ever since is because I began to believe that I was just as worthy of being a published author as anyone else. I’ve read many so-called “bestsellers” and marveled at how boring and poorly written they were. I figured that if they could do it with no more than that, then I was a cinch.
The book business, as every other business, has some secret backdoors that make the process much simpler for those who know where the doors are. I can show you those doors and I can show you how easy it is to walk through them.
I can even believe for you that you can write your book if you’re not quite sure yet that you can. YOU CAN DO THIS! I know that for a fact, because I’ve done it, I’ve shown thousands of others how to do it, and you can too. All you have to do is get started. As the explorer W.H. Murray said, “The moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would otherwise never have occurred.”

“Hi Kristen, Thank you so much for all the good stuff you’re sharing. Taking the time to listen to people like you is so refreshing, so enlightening. God bless you!
This “secret back door” philosophy that Vic shared with us today applies to EVERYTHING. So you can start using this approach to finally do some of the things you felt were out of reach, let’s look at the 7 steps you can take right now…
1. Acknowledge whatever limiting belief has been holding you back (and acknowledge that it is a belief NOT fact.)
2. Decide to “do it, no matter what!”
3. Do some research so you let go of assumptions.
4. Brainstorm “Other Ways” that you might not have thought of before.
5. Break down the “Other Ways” into small steps.
6. Take 1 Step of small action at a time.
7. Notice how your initial limiting belief has transformed into positive belief!
