I allowed myself to stay trapped in an abusive marriage for 24 years. Believing I had no power Of my own. Constant negativity of the mind. I finally discovered I am responsible for my own destiny. Thank you Kirsten For changing my life in the most wonderful way. I am so empowered through your daily emails.

Quick Tip

Let’s take what we talked about in the video and take it a step further.

Remember how I said that when we get stressed, we tend to fuel that stress by trying to control the outcome of things that we normally wouldn’t care about? And I shared the story from my own life to help you really see how that happens.

Now I want you to do the same thing – look at your life, think back over the past week and honestly and without judgment notice the times you became attached to controlling the outcome of something that really didn’t matter to you.

Good…

Now, let me ask you this…

Can you see how much less stress you would feel if you let it go?

Pay attention – start to take notice when you feel yourself getting tense and ask yourself – “Am I trying to control something here?” “How can I go with this instead of fighting for it to be different?”

So often our STRESS is caused by the struggle we get into when we are trying to force something to be different than it is. What if it is ALL for our greatest purpose and all you have to do is let that be true??? How differently would you feel then?

    Great advice Kristen,

My stress is created by a very specific reason… I cannot wake up on time ever, and so my work day has shifted towards starting work late and I run out of time because my day is shorter. I researched this for a long time now, so I know all about not eating late, not exercising late, no computer late, etc. Not matter if I go to sleep at 9PM or 2 AM the result is the same. This past few days I been following usleep with a relaxing video designed with special music and messages to relax me and put me into meditative state… well, guess what? I am late for work!

butterflies in my stomach all over again, great video though, thanks!

Thanks Steven – glad you like the video!

You may want to take a look at WHY you are late for work – I know this may sound strange, but often with something like this, there is some sort of payoff (that we don’t consciously realize) – so brainstorm on this a bit. 🙂

The question “what if this is for my greatest purpose?” is the most helpful question you gave me to ask. I’ve been struggling with a couple of issues that I just recently realized make me automatically close off and when I stepped outside of myself, I realized that they really are neutral issues. Sure, they have the potential to be good or bad, depending on the circumstances, but usually they really just stayed neutral. By letting go of the struggle to control and the stress over my perceived lack of control and anticipating that when these issues come up they are working for my good, I’ve been able to open myself more in general, and that feels great! Plus, the reduction in stress level is a terrific bonus. 🙂

    Thanks Kristin!

Hi Kristen! I practice this concept for a quite time – for any situation that is the trigger for me to start feeling stress, fear or anger, I say to myself why is this happening FOR me, not AGAINST me. And when we train our brain to automatically ask that question in every “bad” situation, we naturally start to look for a solution and consider that this is happening for our highest good. Then the level of stress, fear and anger is falling drastically. On the contrary, positive emotions begine to arise, the situation begins to get bigger and broader meaning, the quality of the relationship with ourselves and others, and the quality of life increases significantly. The catch is that we need to practice this concept when it becomes automatic and natural. This is a great tip because it teaches us not to resist reality and to accept the situation as it is and turn it to our favor 🙂 Thank you for sharing this exciting and powerful knowledge!
