Rehearsing your failure?

I want you to stop for a minute and think about the way you think…

Be honest…

Do you focus most of your thoughts thinking about what you want, or do you focus most of your thoughts on trying to avoid what you don’t want?

Here’s the deal…

Many people think that if they are thinking about how to make sure they avoid what they don’t want, then they are setting themselves up to get what they do want…

When you spend your time thinking about how to avoid what you don’t want, you are still focusing on what you DON’T want…

And what is the one thing we talk about all the time?

What are you sure to attract 100% of the time?

You are sure to attract what you focus the majority of your thoughts on…

If you are spending most of your time thinking about how to avoid what you don’t want — what will you attract?

You got it…you will attract what you DON’T want.

Every time you start to imagine avoiding what you don’t want, you are literally REHEARSING YOUR FAILURE!

Now, don’t be hard on yourself with this…

Just pay attention, and when you catch yourself thinking about what you don’t want in ANY way (even if it seems to be in a, proactive – this is what I’ll do to avoid what I don’t want way) then it is time to self-correct and say this to yourself…

“Okay, I’m focusing on what I don’t want — and what I want to do is focus on what I do want — so, what do I want?”

And then, really focus on what you do want…

How it feels, tastes, smells etc.

And if you are still struggling with what the difference is here, let me give you an example to really illustrate what I mean…

If I asked you, “What do you want?”

And you answered, “I want to be hugely successful in my business!”

GREAT, you are focused on what you DO want…

If I asked you, “What do you want?”

And you answered, “I want to break free of failure and struggle in my business!”

Then you are focused on what you DON’T want…

It’s a small shift, but it is EVERYTHING!

Focus on what you do want — starting today — starting now!

I look forward to your comments!

Go Big!

Thank you Kristen for this simple yet essential advice. I am the first to admit that with everything going on around us it is often just easier to fall back into our old ways. It’s great that today I can have your words to post on my wall!
    Have a fantastic day!

Kristen, You made some very valid points. I try to face situations and not avoid them. I focus more on the things I want more so then what I don’t want. I’ve always considered myself to be straight forward. Things that I don’t want I have no reason to focus on them. God gives me insight on what is good or bad for me. The Bible tell us that it is never a good idea to test God. Why should I focus on what I don’t want just prove to myself or others I am not avoiding situations, when I simply just know what I want.

    To an empowering day,

    Hi Kristen,
Thank you for this, I should read this everyday. One of my biggest character defects
is too acquire the information and then indulge
in procrastination of the mind, and of course,
just feel overwhelmed with getting my perspective in order for my accomplished needs.
So, this thinking direction is truly appreciated. Sincerely, Brenda

Congratulations my dear. I have read the law of attraction key and I am so happy, because I understood better what I had seen In the movie THE SECRET. I am trying to apply the exercises you propose and I am sure that this time I am going to attract what I really want. Thank you and God bless you! Maria.

    Hi Kristen
Simple enough and I have been trying to change those few little words into “I have”. But it says, with emotion to also be part of the equation. Good thing I have been believing, otherwise I would have given up along time ago. Everyday I sit in front of the screen and keep making a little progress, some days more than others. Having lost my job it is a bit overwhelming at times to see the light at the end of the tunnel. But even so, I am happy for the first time in my life…broke…but happier. Not poor…just broke…a temporary situation! So I will keep on with “I have” in the positive of situations and things will happen that are positive. I have faith!

It is not easy not to think of all kinds of problems in your life. The only way to get away from problem-thinking is to make a plan about how to achieve your goals, get active and focus on the activity. And of course always vision the result – your achieved goal.

O-o-o-o! Great reminder. How does “I want to get out of debt” translate into a rehearsal for failure? Perhaps “I want to gain financial freedom” is better.

  12. Mary says:

In reply to Rosemary, I think it is more like…
“I have financial freedom”. Anyways that is what I am doing. Having had an incident years ago, which I won’t go in to here. The other night I said “I enjoy sleeping”. Guess what…the best night sleep I had in a long time. It worked again last night, so all day long I am going to keep it up.
