Who do you have to be?

You know I love the power of questions…

And today I want to introduce you to one of the most powerful questions there is…

I know SO MANY of you are frustrated and feel like you are banging your head against a wall wondering WHEN will you finally have the success you are looking for…

I get emails about it all the time — emails that say things like:

• “Kristen, I’m doing everything I can think of, but I still don’t have enough money…”
• “Kristen, I’m doing everything I can think of, but I still haven’t lost the last 20 pounds…”
• “Kristen, I’m doing everything I can think of, but I still haven’t met my soul mate…”
• “Kristen, I’m doing everything I can think of, but I still don’t have enough time…”
• “Kristen, I’m doing everything I can think of, but I still don’t have enough opportunities…”

and the list goes on…

I know you are nodding your head right now in agreement — I know you know what this feels like — I’ve been there too…

UNTIL

I shifted my focus — this is what I did…

I asked myself a different question than I had ever asked myself before –

Do you want to know what that question was?

Of course you do…here it is…

I asked myself this…

“Who do I need to be to have ___________ ?”

Here’s another great follow up question to that one…

“What do I need to believe to have ____________?”

And another powerful question…

“How do I need to act and look at life and handle setbacks to have ___________?”

Here’s the deal…

Whatever you want, I guarantee there is proof in this world that it is possible because I promise you someone else has it –

Study those people that have what you want –

• Who are they?
• What do they believe?
• What do they focus on?
• How do they handle setbacks?
• What do they expect?

This works for EVERYTHING –

Whether you want

• More money
• To lose weight
• To be a famous artist
• To have a successful business
• To find the love of your life
• To excel at your current job
• To discover your passion and purpose

etc. etc. etc.

STOP looking at what you don’t have and instead focus on who you have to be to have what you want…

I promise you that right now you are EXACTLY who you need to be to have what you currently have — and I know you are ready to change that!

Superstition and luck…

Happy Friday the 13th!

I know this is a day where many people  get superstitious and expect bad things to happen…

I  like to look at things differently so on Friday the 13th I actually expect some surprise GOOD things to happen…

You ready to join me on that?

Right this second decide that today is your lucky day…

Think about when you were a kid and it was your birthday or the first day of vacation etc….

Remember what it was like to wake up EXCITED about the day…

You didn’t know what was going to happen, but the day had a feeling of promise and excitement to it…

That’s what I want you to do today!

If you are about to spout 8 million good reasons why you CAN’T do that like:

I’m bogged down in debt

I don’t have enough time

I don’t have enough money

I’m too stressed

My relationship sucks

I just lost my job

etc. etc. etc.

DON’T!

What?  How can I be so cold and insensitive to suggest that you just ignore all the bad in your life and expect something good to happen?

I’m not being cold and insensitive…

In fact, this is coming out of love…

JUST ONE DAY…

That’s all I ask…

1 day where you choose to get excited and feel like luck is on your side and the day is full of possibility…

1 day!

If you hate it you can go back to exactly what you usually do tomorrow…

But today is LUCKY Friday the 13th!!

I can’t promise you that your life will change today…

But I can promise you that if you do this today, you are planting the seed of infinite possibility and positive expectation…

Look for the small positive clues that surround you right now (I guarantee they are there if you look for them and stop looking for proof of how bad and desperate things are for you.)

Your mindset today determines your reality tomorrow (I know in reality there is only NOW, but you know what I’m saying.)

So…

Are you game?

Will you look at today with excitement and expectation?  You don’t have to know what you are excited about…in fact, that’s the point, you are surrounded by opportunity at ALL TIMES…so just get excited about that and about opportunity and fun and excitement being revealed to you.

You’re going to fall down…

Here’s the deal…

No matter how many people are promising you success and money and a life beyond your wildest dreams…

You WILL fall down from time to time!

This is also the deal…

You can still have success and money and a life beyond your wildest dreams…

IF you are ready to get back up again.

Falling down doesn’t mean you are failing…

It just means you have something to learn!

Fall down and be grateful you are being given the lessons you need to move you toward your ultimate vision.

The ONLY reason you won’t get the money, success and life beyond your wildest dreams is if when you fall down you stay down OR you see it as proof that you can’t have what you want.

The universe wants to deliver to you what you are so convinced you deserve that you can hear ‘NO’ a million times and you still know you deserve it!

REMEMBER…I am NOT talking about getting attached to a specific job or person or thing when I say this…please don’t start stalking people because I told you the universe will give it to you if you just keep pushing past a million times of hearing “No”.

I mean this…

Release the pressure  and limits that come when you decide that you have to have a certain job or person or amount of money and shift to ‘Knowing’ in your heart that you deserve…

• Success
• Love
• Money
• Glory
• Joy
• Laughter
• Peace
• Faith
• Freedom
• Prosperity

etc.

Know it so strongly that you don’t hear “No” instead you hear “Take a different approach”.

You will fall down…

You WILL fall down…

You will FALL down…

So what!

You fell down a million times before you walked…

So fall down and laugh knowing that you are one fall closer to discovering how to walk!

This is your time!

Live an extraordinary life!

This is going to make some people angry…

I have to write this post even though I know it’s going to make some people angry…

In fact I know that I will probably get a bunch of people riled up enough that they choose to never visit the likes of me or my blog again…

BUT I have to write it…

Why?

Because this one thing is causing people to live in misery and feel alone and defeated and I can’t stand it anymore…

That being said, it’s tough love time and this IS coming from a place of love…

Here we go…

Being a victim is only going to rob YOU of your life!

• I know bad things have happened to you, in fact some horrible things may have happened to you and I am not asking you to ignore that.
• I know people may not always be there for you or know what you need or consider you as they barrel through their lives…
• We (understandably) hold onto these things to protect ourselves from getting hurt again…
• Then we start to look for them even when they aren’t there…
• We stop communicating and sit around looking for proof that we aren’t important to the people in our lives or that we’ll never get what we want because we are too old or fat or thin or young or alone or stretched for time or money or, or, or…

At some point, being a victim only hurts one person and that is you!

All of the hurt that has happened in your life is only hurting you more if it defines every moment forward…

All the pain and alone serves to keep you alone because you won’t risk connection and communication…

The cost is great…

The cost is everything…

If you are ready to create the life you desire…

A life without limits…

A life with abundance and prosperity and love and laughter and adventure…

Then eventually you are going to have to stop hoping someone or something will come fix your life for you…

You’ll have to stop resisting love and connection and risk…

You’ll have to stop waiting for anyone you are going to give your love to to PROVE that they love you just because you’re you…

You’ll have to see that blame isn’t helping you anymore and that holding onto the pain of the past is keeping you in the past and keeping you from your life…

You are going to have to wake up one day (and only you will know when that day is) and decide that what has happened is over and you can start again NOW…

I’m not saying that the pain doesn’t suck and I’m certainly not saying that it is ok for people to knowingly hurt you and cause you pain…

I am saying that pain happens and you can become more because of it and you can still love and have everything you desire once you stop looking for proof of how awful and painful and lacking your life is…

I say this for you because I care…

I say this knowing that you shouldn’t do this UNTIL you are ready…

I say this risking that it will cause you to think I am blaming you and telling you that everything bad that has happened to you doesn’t matter (even though that couldn’t be further from the truth.)

I say this because we ALL need to hear it…and that includes me…

This is the key…

Everything bad that has happened to you up until this moment — it’s time to get over it!

Do it for yourself and no one else…

Do it to clear yourself so you can begin to live again…

I am not blaming or pointing fingers…I believe in everything that you are and I want you to experience yourself in your full glory…

I say this from my heart…

You Won’t Save the World by Giving Your Solution Away for Free

Have I already hit a sore spot?

I know it’s a touchy subject when it comes to making money from your passion, and I hit on it slightly in one of my posts a few weeks ago and I’m still getting emails about it.

So what’s the nerve I’ve hit?

I’ll tell you…

You won’t save the world by giving your solution away for free!

We’ve been doing all of this work on finding your passion and making money from it and discovering how you can help people…

In other words, defining what solution you have to someone else’s problem…

I do one-on-one and group coaching to help people do all of this and time and time again one of my clients will say to me…

‘But I want to make the world a better place and if I have a solution that someone else needs, shouldn’t I give it to them for free?’

YIKES!

NO!

Here’s the deal…

Do I want you to take advantage of people?

No, of course not!

But the fact of the matter is you are NEVER going to make the world a better place by giving your solution away for free for 2 main reasons…

1. If you give it away for free, how long do you think you’ll be able to keep giving it away? Honestly, won’t you end up depleted of resources like time and money and energy if you go this route? I say this to my coaching clients like a mantra, “When you fly in an airplane, there’s a reason they tell you to put the oxygen mask on your self first.”

2. People don’t have anything at stake if it’s free and if you REALLY want to help people they have to have something at stake.

Now before you argue with me on that second point, I have proof…

Years ago, I had enough people ask me why I didn’t give my coaching for free so I thought it would be an interesting experiment. I invited 10 people to work with me one-on-one for free. This normally would have been a $5000 investment for them to work with me, but I agreed to have them pay that amount once they finished the program and saw what it could do for them.

What do you think happened?

Well…the first 2 weeks went quite well, everyone stayed accountable and took the action I gave them to take and then…

Well, let’s just say that after 5 weeks I was putting all my time and effort into chasing them down.

I called a group session together and asked them what they thought the problem was…

I’ll be completely honest about the response…

• 1 of the men in the group said that I just wasn’t the coach for him
• 1 woman said that she realized she really didn’t want to do what it would take to be an enterpreneur
• 1 younger guy didn’t even call into the group session
• And the 7 remaining people agreed that because they didn’t have any skin in the game, the program had gone to the bottom of their priority list…

They literally told me that because they didn’t have their investment in the program pressuring them to follow through, they just weren’t making it a priority at all.

Ultimately, as a group, we called off the experiment and 3 of the people made the investment to start working with me…

The results?

2 of them now have extremely successful businesses and the third didn’t follow through anyway so I let him out of the program.

So, I’ll say this a million times if I have to…

If you have a solution that will help people, and you really want to help as many people as you possible can, the results will be much better for everyone if you don’t give it to them for free!

I’m all for giving and charity, but that isn’t what this is about…

You don’t have to charge huge amounts of money, but it does need to be enough that it inspires the person to follow through and actually use the solution you have offered them…

If you want to make money from your passion, please take this to heart…

Put the oxygen mask on yourself first and then get out there and you’ll be able to help all the people you can reach!
